Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a linear thermoplastic polyester that has extensive commercial applications in synthetic fibers and also as a material for "films" and molded products. Different grades of PET are used across a wide range of molecular weights in various industries. Nowadays, its most widespread use is in the production of beverage bottles, which is why there is also a significant amount of waste generated from this product. PET is categorized as recyclable material with recycling code 1.
