Gasoil

Diesel fuel, also known as diesel oil or gasoil, is a liquid fuel specifically designed for use in diesel engines. A diesel engine is a type of internal combustion engine in which fuel combustion occurs without a spark, resulting from the compression of the incoming air.

Therefore, injecting diesel fuel requires good compression ignition characteristics. Gasoil is obtained from the atmospheric distillation tower of a refinery and, after processing, reducing impurities and blending with a small percentage of kerosene (up to 5%) and adjusting certain specifications, such as flash point and boiling points, according to standard criteria, it is introduced into the market.

Diesel fuel is consumed in places other than the automotive industry, including:

- Diesel generators
- Marine vessels
- Industrial heating
- Residential heating
- Recreational boats
- Fuel for small-scale refineries
- Rail transportation

Diesel fuel is primarily used in fuel markets. In the United States, petroleum gas is often consumed in refining processes to produce gasoline components. In Iran, it is used for power generation, trucks, buses, ships, home heating systems, agriculture, and industry, and it often has a higher sulfur content compared to gasoil in Europe and the United States. In Western Europe and Asia, the quality of gasoil has relatively improved over time. Additionally, the increase in gasoline production from gas-to-liquid (GTL) projects can gradually replace some of the demand for gasoil in Western Europe and Japan.

In the commercial and agricultural sectors, gasoil is used for equipment such as cranes and bulldozers.

It is also used in generators, boilers, emulsion waxes, construction boards, matches, rust protection products, vapor barrier coatings, polishes, inks, carbon paper, and can be externally used as a good dust suppressant or controlled-release agents for various chemicals.
