LDPE has more branching, so its intermolecular forces are weaker, its tensile strength is lower, and its resilience is higher. The side branches mean that its molecules are less tightly packed and less crystalline, therefore its density is lower. It is quite flexible and tough. It also has the possibility of being decomposed by microorganisms. From Its main functions can be mentioned production of polyethylene pipes for irrigation.
